Job Description

  • To actively participate in the Polio Eradication Initiative, Nutrition and other humanitarian programmes, mostly in high-risk states and LGAs in North-Eastern Nigeria. To analyze evolving access issues to align with polio campaigns and reaching every settlement strategy (RES) and Nigeria military-sponsored Reaching Inaccessible Children (RIC). Programmes should be delivered in the safest and secured manner, specifically in areas where access is required.
  • To support the Local Security Access Facilitators in identifying key influencers who can facilitate the delivery of programmes in inaccessible areas.
  • Following the unpredictable nature of Borno, it may be difficult to make precise instructions concerning access management. As a result, the Polio
  • Access analyst will be expected to cooperate with the Chief of Field Office, local government to make prompt and best contingency decisions.
  • The Polio Access analyst will be based in Maiduguri but will often travel as duty demands to designated Local Government Areas in the three emergency states; Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe. He/She will also report to the Chief of Field Office on a daily basis and work under the supervision of the UNICEF Chief of C4D/Polio section which is the manager of the Polio eradication programme.
  • The Polio Access Analyst shall support other polio eradication campaigns and shall adopt strategies to be used in inaccessible or hard to reach areas.
  • To support the establishment/development of new opportunities to improve programme access, in particular, inaccessible settlements and Nigerian islands in Lake Chad.
  • To develop/improve safety guideline for front-line workers and polio programme staff
  • To adopt a scenario-based approach and address specific inaccessibility issues
  • To support the deployment of Open Data Kit (ODK) database for accessibility data collection and train LGA based security facilitators on how to use ODK.

UNICEF Nigeria Recruitment Qualification of Successful Candidate

  • Education: An advanced University degree in related field with focus on Risk Management, Data Analysis, and Information Operations.
  • A B.Sc and 2years of cognate experience may be considered in place of an advanced degree.
  • Working knowledge of threat assessments, data analysis, and liaison duties would be an added advantage.
  • Candidate should have a solid experience in L3/L2 emergency situation

  • Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a recognized police, military or state security agency, including security-related tasks within multi-cultural surroundings.
