We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title/Position: Executive Director
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Reporting To: The Nigerian Bar Association President & General Secretary.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing, supervising, planning, directing, coordinating and implementing the NBA policies, programmes and directives as laid out by the National Executive Committee (NEC) in collaboration with the President and General Secretary of the NBA.
  • The ED shall oversee the day to day administration and management of the NBA National Secretariat
  • He shall manage the National Secretariat human, financial and other resources in conjunction with the NBA objectives#
  • He shall be in charge of developing ideas and projects that relate to the public interest of the NBA.
  • He is responsible to the President and General Secretary
  • He reviews and approves budgets, as part of the annual planning
  • Supervise the research and drafting of policies, work papers, memo of understanding, briefs, concept notes and other materials relating to NBA leadership.
  • Draft and supervise fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain and foster a good partnership with local and international organizations and Development partners.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from one NBA leadership administration to another.
  • Foster a good relationship with partners in bid to attract more stakeholders and donors
  • Incentivise and motivate staff members through whatever acceptable means necessary.
  • Support the President in implementing his plan during his administration.
  • Creating diverse streams of income for the NBA
  • Draft and promote ideas that will enhance the advancement of the National Secretariat and better working conditions for all Lawyers.
  • To ensure that all staff adheres to the policies of the NBA National Secretariat as contained in the Personnel Human ResourcesManual, Standard Operating Procedures, Employee handbook and Nigerian Lawyers.
  • To implement other undocumented duties as may be assigned by the President and General Secretary as the case may be.

Job Requirements

  • The ED must have a B.Sc in Law or humanities or social sciences from a recognized and reputable institution.
  • A post-graduate degree in any related course is an added advantage.
  • Candidate must have at least 10years experience in general office management finance and administration.
  • Candidate must have an experience in organisation development work
  • At least 10 years of experience of working planning, policy, programming, and development
  • A solid work experience in general administration/programme development and project management.
  • Candidate must be proficient in English. FLuency in a foreign language is an added advantage
  • The Knowledge of information and communication technology is needed
  • A knowledge of the Nigerian Bar Association and the legal profession
